Caturra Chiroso is a rare and highly sought-after Colombian variety prized for its delicate, expressive character. Grown high in the mountains of Caicedo, this washed coffee opens with fragrant floral notes and honeyed sweetness, followed by bright citrus and fresh lemongrass. Vibrant acidity and a remarkably clean finish make this an elegant, complex cup that shines especially well through filter brewing.

Chiroso is an unusual variety with elongated beans and a reputation for exceptional cup quality. Its delicate floral and fruit characteristics have made it a standout in Colombian coffee competitions, but producing it requires considerable care. The plants are particularly susceptible to coffee leaf rust and changing weather conditions, making careful cultivation, selective harvesting, short fermentation, and slow drying especially important.

This lot is produced by growers in the Caicedo community through the Aprokafes project led by Elkin Diosa. Aprokafes brings together producers of all sizes while providing quality-control resources, agricultural training, proper coffee storage, and opportunities for young people to build careers in specialty coffee. The result is a distinctive Colombian coffee that pairs an exceptional cup profile with a commitment to the community behind it.
